Students collaborate with Schwarzkopf

Second year fashion and textile students at Northampton University have collaborated with salon Hensmans to create a clothing collection based on Schwarzkopf Professional's Spring Summer ‘18 Essential Looks: Reinventing Hair.

This is the 17th year that the university has collaborated with the Schwarzkopf Professional salon in Northampton. Working in teams, students picked one of the sub-collections from Reinventing Hair, Beyond Borders, Random Rebel,
Real Me and Royal TakeOver, to then designed a clothing line based upon it.

Each team shot a key item from their collection with a professional photographer, make-up artist and hair stylists from Hensmans, creating their own Essential Looks inspired model image. The project concluded with a panel of expert judges picking a team to win a prize from Hensmans.

Gemma Hensman, Director of Hensmans salons, says:

“With a long-standing collaboration of 17 years it is great to get the opportunity to work with the university of Northampton fashion students in this way. The course is amazing and working alongside lecturer Jane Mills is an absolute joy. The students have all worked really hard and we are incredibly impressed with the work they have created.”

The judging panel consisted of Hensmans' Director Gemma Hensman, Hensmans Group Creative Director James Campbell, LWPR PR Senior Account Executive Emilie Scott, and Marketing Manager and Technical Advisor for Schwarzkopf Professional Marina Fallahi and Jamie Farrar.

The winning team was inspired by Schwarzkopf Professional's Real Me collection. Commenting on the winners, who receive a professional photoshoot, with a professional make-up artist and hair stylists courtesy of Hensmans and Schwarzkopf Professional. Gemma Hensman says:

“We felt this team really took on the brief and the theme of Real Me and made it their own by talking about real issues that surround us in society, such as body image and trolling thanks to social media. Yet still keeping the look, cut and feel of the clothing very true to the brief.”
