The UK hair profession triumphed at this year's International Hairdressing Awards, a photographic competition, taking four out of the six categories open to hairdressers from across the globe.

Awards were presented in the Spanish capital, Madrid, where a runway showcased creation from seven of the world's leading hairdressing teams: Revlon Global Art Team, Toni&Guy (UK), Sassoon (UK), Sanrizz (UK), The Beauty Undergrown (USA), Mikel Luzea (Spain) and X-Presion (Spain).

The awards recognised Best International Women's Commercial Collection, Best International Avant-Garde Collection, Best International Men's Commercial Collection, International Artistic Team of the Year and International Hairdresser of the Year. They also honoured an International Hair Legend, which this year was presented to Spain's Lluis Llongeuras.

Photographed styles were judged by a panel of five international hairdressers, which included Anthony Mascolo, Carlo Bay, Klaus Peter Ochs, Tony Rizzo, and Trevor Sorbie.
