Keep clients hair-free with this Winter Waxing Checklist

That time of the year is upon us once again, the time for leggings and jumpers, stockings and scarves. Winter is officially on its way!

With the temperature beginning to drop, clothing is not the only thing getting thicker... many people let their waxing routines fall by the wayside during winter, which can make for a disastrous first outing in warmer weather.

Harley Waxing have put together a winter waxing guide, to help clients smoothly transition from fluffy socks to shorts and sandals come springtime, without the hassle of booking a waxing appointment first.

Harley Waxing recommend these top five tips to help clients achieve even smoother hair removal results for longer:

1. Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate
It's the first on our list and it's repeated. Three times. Hopefully that shows just how important it is during winter (and throughout the year) to hydrate.

Dehydration in winter is a big issue, with cracked lips and dry skin plaguing many in the colder months, but did you know that hair dries and cracks too, making waxing a lot more painful? So, by keeping the body hydrated, hair will be less likely to break when waxing and skin will stay healthier.

2. Exfoliate
Clients should get into the habit of regularly exfoliating throughout winter;  it helps remove dead skin cells, promote healthy hair growth and helps prevent those formidable ingrown hairs.

3. Get into a routine
Winter is the best time to get into a good waxing routine. If you wax your clients every three to four weeks throughout winter, before you know it, hair growth and pain levels will lessen drastically. This means that once summer begins, clients can start waxing every four to six weeks as hairs will be at a set length and easier to manage.

4. Length vs. Time
This goes along with point three. Although the guideline is for three to four weeks, also keep an eye on clients' actual hair growth as hair grows slower in winter due to pores constricting in the cold. Hair should be at least about 1/8 inch long before waxing.

5. Don't forget to moisturise
Hydration's best friend is moisturising; these two go hand-in-hand to ensure soft, beautiful skin and quick healing times after waxing.
