ABT Statement: Safe use of products
As a membership organisation, ABT takes any concerns regarding safe use of products extremely seriously as we are aware that members look to us for clarification and reassurance in relation to industry best practice.
Due to recent social media attention regarding products and brands, it has been brought to our attention that a very small number of ABT members are concerned about the quality of their product and/or treatment liability insurance when using specific brands of products.
As conveyed in the product training literature and publications regarding products, safe use of products under British Standard and EU standards can be ensured through proper training by an approved company and taking measures to follow training protocols and standards as well as adherence to manufacturers' guidelines.
If you have any questions regarding product usage and/or safe usage protocols and guidelines, we strongly recommend that you immediately contact the product manufacturer and/or main distributer and reaffirm your measures to follow their guidelines and advice on product safety.
PolyGel use by ABT Members
With regards to insurance coverage related to the PolyGel product, on behalf of our members we contacted Hand & Nail Harmony, Inc. who have assured us they stand behind PolyGel and, as with all consumer products, they urge customers to maintain the practice of safe product usage and adherence to product guidelines and protocols. Hand & Nail Harmony and Georgie Smedley are companies that ABT has held, and will continue to hold, in the highest possible esteem for innovative product development, consumer product training and client communication.
Hand & Nail Harmony remains confident in all of its products, including PolyGel, as well as the safe usage and administration of the products when used as directed and fully cured to better than 99+%.
As conveyed upon your initiation with the products, insurance will be maintained as long as you:
• are trained in and/or by an approved company;
• follow standard training and protocols;
• and adhere to manufacturer's guidelines in accordance with the policy.
We appreciate and welcome feedback from product customers, and even a small number of isolated incidents are taken seriously and investigations continue.
As a reminder, we recommend ABT members always…
• Use the product from an authorized distributor with a range that is British Standard
• Be vigilant and thorough in your consultations while keeping records
• Look for any issues and, if needed, ask for GP referrals
• Follow training guidelines and protocols for treatment and products
• Follow the manufacturer's guidelines including, but not limited to, safe use guidelines
• Only use the Gelish 18G light for the product
• Give careful and consistent written aftercare advice
…if in doubt, don't perform the treatment as you are the expert!
